Track Record quarterly results: ticketing system

The following milestones were achieved in the December 2012 quarter:

• myki sales and top up replaced Metcard sales at all metropolitan train station ticket windows.
• myki gates began replacing Metcard barriers at stations with around 50 per cent installed by the end of 2012. The full program is expected to be complete by the end of the March 2013 quarter.
• Improvements to customer processes introduced including remote card unblocking and an increase in the number of times transaction information is sent to devices, resulting in online top ups being ready for collection well within 24 hours, particularly at train stations
• As of 29 December 2012 myki became the only ticket that can be used on Melbourne’s public transport network.

Information on the availability of myki equipment will be included in Track Record when all myki devices and equipment is installed and the system is no longer operating alongside the Metcard system.
